What our sensors tell us about
Opening Doors
Keep your elbows tucked in and use a smooth, controlled movement to open the doors and the latches.
For barn doors – take your time and only open one door at a time.
For roller doors – let the door go and use the strap once it is opening.
Avoid jerking and sudden movements that put excess stress on the back, shoulders and elbows.

- Shoulder are fully elevated
- Door is pushed or pulled forcefully
- Door slams or swings fast
- No use of the door strap to control the movement

- Shoulders are under less stress with little elevation
- Elbows tucked in, close to the body
- Smooth, controlled movements are used to open/close doors
- Use of the door strap to control the speed of opening
EMP Sensor Observations
Sensor observations are a highly accurate and objective way of measuring risk during manual handling tasks. By using the correct movement you will help reduce stress and strain on your back, shoulders and neck.
Task Risk Scale
With sensor observations, we measure relative task risk.
